Deerfield Demons

The Demons are coming off of an 18-4-1 season in which they were the 2008 Regional Champions defeating Waterloo 9-7. Deerfield reached the Elite 8 after beating (17-1) Mineral Point 6-1. The road to STATE fell one game short loosing to the 2007 defending D3Champs LaCrosse Aquinas. Deerfield is lead by seniors listed below.

MIKE HOMMEN (20): Mike was a unanimous Trailways First Team All-Conference Pitcher in 2008. Mike was named the Team Co-MVP in 2008. The awards did not end there; “Hummer” was honored to the ALL-State Academic Team. Mike put up some amazing numbers. In Conference, he was tied for the most wins (8), 5^th in Strike Outs (61), 5^th in ERA (2.77). On offense, Mike in Conference finished third with a .550 Batting Average, 1^st in on base percentage (.667), HBP (10) and Doubles (9), second in Stolen Bases (13), Runs (19) and Hits (22). Hommen lead the Demons in team categories; First in stolen bases (14), Triples (1), Doubles (9) and Runs (33). Second in Slugging (.556), OBP (.557), and hits (29).

CODY WYMAN (2): Cody joined the Demons in 2008 coming over from Oregon WI and fit in perfectly, earning Trailways Second Team All-Conference honors. Cody was named Hustling Demon in 2008. In conference play, Cody finished with a .357 Batting Average. “YGuy” had over 90 plate appearances with 75 at bats (2^nd on team), scored 24 runs (3^rd team), 23 hits (4^th team), and 10 Stolen Bases (2^nd team).

TYLER BROWN (11): Tyler was named the Demons Defensive Player of the Year in 2008. Tyler was named to the Trailways Second Team All-Conference in 2008. “The Glove”, lead the Demons in Home Runs (2), had 23 runs (4^th team), .446 slug. % (3^rd team). Tyler had a .988 fielding percentage with only one error in 80 chances playing second base.

CODY EILENFELDT (51): Cody was named 2008 co-Team Captain. Cody was also named to the 2008 Trailways Second Team All-Conference. Cody lead the Demons in At Bats (84), had 23 hits (4^th team), 20 RBI (3^rd), 4 doubles (3^rd) and had a .357 Slug Percentage (5^th).

RYAN SCHENKEL (23): In 2008 Ryan was named the Demons Co-Most Improved Player. Ryan put up impressive numbers in 2008. Ryan lead the Demons in Walks (23), Triples (1), second in Home Runs (1), Third in OBP (.513), 4^th in slug % (.444), RBI (18) and doubles(3).

GARRETT BORGRUD (17): In 2008 Garrett was named the Demons Co-Most Improved Player. Garrett had the team high fielding percentage .990, was 5^th on the team with 14 RBI and tied for second in Home Runs with one.
