Game 12: After scoring 42 runs in two days the Demons bats cooled off in RIO. The Demons came out hitting hard the first inning but a nice double play got Rio out of what could have been big trouble. Mike Hommen lead the attack going 2-2 with a double. Dr. Smooth Wes Halverson belted in two more runs while going 2-3 Tre Shaw was 2-3 with an RBI. Cody Eilenfeldt was 2-4 while Tyler Coffey, Kyler Johnson and Tyler Brown all collected hits. Ryan Schenkel (3-0) pitched a three hit Gem stiking out 9. GAME 11: DEMONS ARE HOT! Deerfield (9-2) put up 42 runs in two days!! The Demons crushed Fall River (3-9) 22-0 on Friday night. Before Fall River knew waht happened the game was over. Fall River could not even see the ball as Ace Mike Hommen (4-1-1) had 8 stikeouts and shut out the Pirates. Hummer went 1-2 at the plate but the one hit was a towering home run! The Home Run parade did not stop there, Last season HR KING Tyler Brown launched his 2nd HR deep to left with the bases full for a GRAND SLAM! Kyler Johnson (1-2) decided to join in the fun hitting a Home Run the left.Unstoppable Wes Halverson (2-3) smashed two doubles. Hot hitting Ryan Schankel went 2-3 with two doubles and 2 RBI. Not to be out done Cody Wyman ripped a double, knocked in 3 runs and went 3-4 on the night. Mason Lund collected a hit, Tyler Coffey joined in with a base hit. Fan favorite and pinch running specialist Brandon Shaw (1-1) got a chance at the plate and laced a two run triple rounding out the hitting parade. Game 10: The 8-2 Demons chewed and spit out division foe Williams Bay (0-7) 21-1. After taking a 17-0 lead in three innings the Demons pulled out 7 of the 9 starters. Mike Hommen lead the attack with a 3-3 performance that included two RBI, double and a HOME RUN! Kyler Johnson was 3-4 with 2 RBI. Hot hitting Ryan Schankel was 2-3 with 2 RBI, Tre Shaw knocked in two runs going 2-3, Wes Halverson collected a few hits going 2-3. Cody Wyman was the top RBI man with three going 1-2. Joining the 16 hit barage was Tyler Brown 1-3 with an RBI, Shane Taylor 1-1 with an RBI, and Mason Lund 1-1 with an RBI. Brown started the game on the mound and pitched three scorless innings to nothch the victory. Next up Fall River. Game 9: Deerfield (7-2) tamed the L-cats of Lake Mills 8-2. Mike Hommen's bat is starting to come alive and that means trouble for the Demon opponents. Mike was 2-3 along with Wes Halverson, Tyler Brown knocked in 3 runs with a double. Cody Wyman and Kyler Johnson each had a hit in the contest. Ryan Schenkel pitched a gem striking out 6 as he notched the victory. Game 8: Deerfield (6-2) defeated a strong St. John's Northwestern Military (3-2) club 8-5. Ryan Schenkel (1-0) struck out 6 en route to the win. Ryan was also 2-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI's. Mike Hommen had a big day with two triples, double and RBI. Cody Eilenfeldt continued his hot hitting going 2-2 with an RBI. Wes Haverson, Tyler Brown and Tre Shaw all went 1-2 while Tyler Coffey and Cody Wyman each collected a hit. The Demons look to continue the march to the Trailway's South title when the y play Fall River next. Comments: Demons on a roll!! Deerfield dropped out of the pre-season polls (8th) but maybe they should not have. The team was bitten by early season injuries but have started to gel as a club. The Demons look to move back into the rankings after stringing 4 wins in a row. The main injury of note is that "G" is out for the season. Cody Eilenfeldt is playing at an All Confrence level with his fractured wrist and Wyman has returned to action. Game 7: Show down with defending Trailway South Champs Johnson Creek. Last year the two teams split. The Demons (5-2) blasted Creek's Ace (previous game threw a no hitter) Chris Wolf for 8 runs in the first two innings. Tre Shaw homered to right field and Cody Eilenfeldt continued his hot hitting (fracture and all) Wes Halverson collected two hits, Tyler Coffey (1-1) lined a double driving in two runs, Tyler Brown had two hits, Ryan Schenkel crushed the ball (2-3), and Cody Wyman (2-2) drove in a run. Schenkel started the game pitching well but gave way to Ace Mike Hommen (3-1-1) struck out 8 to close out JC (2-2).
Game 6: Confrence Play started at Pardeeville (2-4). The Demons (4-2) started off with a bank. Mason Lund crushed a home run to left and Tyler Brown was pitching a gem. The Demons lead 8-3 before Pardeeville put a rally on tieing the game off Ace Mike Hommen in the bottom of the 7th. Ryan Schenkel came through with a base hit to take the lead 9-8 and Hommen (2-1-1) shut the home team down.
Game 5: The Demons short handed showed thier neighbors who was boss defeating Cambridge 5-4 behind a season ending performance by Garrett Borgrud (1-0). "G" struck out 7 batters (team lead 17K's) before leaving the game with a season ending injury. Tyler Brown and Nick Saunders both went 2-3 in the contest. Wes Halverson belted a double driving in two runs . Brown (1-0) came on to gain the win on the mound.
Game 4: The Demons (2-2) took one on the chin as Waterloo (1-2) scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to pull out the victory 6-5 The tying run was scored at a play at home plate where Cody Eilenfeldt broke his wrist. The winning run then scored on a passed ball on the next pitch. Cody Eilenfeldt ripped two doubles and Mike Hommen doubled in the game.
Game 3: Parkview (1-1) scored 16 runs off of the Demons (2-1) number 3 and 4 pitchers. The Demons who trailed 10-2 fought back to take the lead at 12-11 only to come up short 16-12.
Game 2: Deerfield (2-0) behind "G" Gerrett Borgrud (1-0) Defeated Parkview 11-6 in the top half of a double header.
GAME 1: It was cold and drizzling. The Demons, who rarely went 1,2,3 when hitting did just that adding to the chill in the air. Ace Pitcher Mike Hommen (1-0) closed down Lakeside Lutheran and it looked like it was going to be a long pitcher duel in the cold. The Demons bats then started to heat up! The 8th ranked Demons, with two outs in the 2nd inning started a rally as Garrett Borgrud laced a double. Trey Shaw (2-2) getting the nod in Left delivered with a two run single right up the middle. Cody Eilenfeldt drove in a couple runs going 2-4 and last year's Home Run King, Tyler Brown (Glove), started off the year with a bang belting a shot over the left field wall for the Demons first HR of the year. Deerfield (1-0) WINS 8-2 in 6 innings!
