2008 was suppose to be a rebuilding year for the DEMONS as they were picked to finish 3 or 4th in South Trailways.  2008 Regional Champions is a heck of a way to rebuild.  Clutch hitting and an all out team effort propelled Deerfield (17-3-1) to a nail bitting 9-7 victory over a very hot Waterloo team.  After ten running Waterloo earlier in the spring,  it took everything the Demons had to claw out the victory.  Deerfield started off hitting the ball well but were only able to muster one run early.  Waterloo in the third inning behind a Grand Slam home run by Kevin Novak took a 5-1 lead.  Deerfield fought back behind clutch hits by Cody Eilenfeldt and Ryan Schenkel to tie the game at 5-5.  The Demon's seem to be on a roll until Waterloo's Novak smacked his second home run a two run shot to right field giving Waterloo a 7-5 lead.  un-wavering Deerfield tied the game in the bottom of the 6th and with the bases loaded Zack "attack" Halverson as he has all year long delivered a 2 RBI base hit giving Deerfield a 9-7 lead.  Mike Hommen (8-0-1) who entered the game with a 1.15 ERA did not have his best stuff but was able to dig down deep and battle to earn his 8th victory of the season with a gritty performace as he never gave up.  NEXT UP: The Demons travel to the Sectional to battle  19-1 and 5th rated Mineral Point.  MP dominated a mild Southwest Wisconsin Activities League boasting mostly .500 teams.  The Demon's will be ready for the challenge!

After earning a number two bid and a bye the Demons (16-3-1) took on #6 seed Poynette.  Deerfield "fast Attack" was at it.  Cody Wyman started the suiside buntting barage followed by Ryan Schenkel and Zack Halverson.  The Demon's also showed the long ball, Garrett Borgrud (2-3) spanked a three run Home Run! Tyler Brown followed with a solo shot to left field for his team leading and second Home Run of the year!.   Aaron Jahr (2-4) trippled and Dylan Jackson (2-3) doubled in the contest.  Zack "Attack" Halverson went 3-4 in the game.  Dylan Jackson picked up his 7th victory (7-2) of the season as the Demons won 11-7.

Deerfield earned a number 2 seed in the regional and will await the winner of the #3 (Wis. Heights) vs. #6 (Poynette).  GO TO THE LINK SECTION for a link to the WIAA bracket,

FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME:  Deerfield 15-3-1 stopped the party as they defeated Pardeeville 5-1 sweeping the home and home series.  Mike Hommen won his 7th game of the year.  hommen also collected two hits going 2-4 at the plate.  The Demons scoring started in the first inning as Ryan Schenkel's (1-3) three bagger to right field knockied in two runs.   Pardeeville made it 2-1 until the top of the 5th inning.  Cody Wyman (1-3) smashed a double on the left field line knocking in the insurance run making it 3-1. Pardeeville started a rally in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Frosh sensation Zack Weihert (2-3) who before the 6th inning had all of Pardeeville's hits came to bat with runners at 1st and 2nd base.  Weihert smashed a line shot up the middle but Hommen made a fantastic play grabbing the linner, turned and threw to second for the double play.  Deerfield then broke the game open as Zack Halverson (2-4) with the bases loaded looped in a base hit knocking in runs 4 and 5.  Dylan Jackson was 2-3 while Garrett Borgrud (1-3), Aaron Jahr (1-3), and Cody Eilenfeldt (1-4) all laced hits.

The three time Champions have to settle for second place as Johnson Creek claims the title with their victory over Hustisford 7-2 Friday night.  Because of rain out's the Demons were not able to host Hustisford but rather had to play them in a double header in Hustisford.  To make things worse Deerfield had to play Johnson Creek the night before.  The split double header ended up costing the Demon's their fourth consecutive crown.  The good news is that Johnson Creek last year finished second to Deerfield and was able to go on and win the State Championship in division 4, can the Demons do the same?

Deerfield 14-3-1 whipped up on 4th place Pardeeville 13-4 behind the pitching and hitting of Dylan Jackson.  Jackson was 3-4 with 3 runs batted in, while on the mound Dylan picked up his 6th victory of the year striking out 6 hitters.  Cody Wyman (1-2) and Aaron Jahr (1-2) had a hit in the game while each stole two bases.

Even with the young girls flirting with the Demon's center fielder, Deerfield's focus was not swayed as Deerfield (12-3-1) crushed Fall River 12-3.  Mike Hommen (3-4) again was a star as he ripped two doubles and drove in two runs.  Zack "attack" Halverson (2-3) was the RBI king as he drove in three runs.  The big hit came off the bat of Tyler Brown (1-2) with a "see you later" HOME RUN to left!  Dylan Jackson picked up the victory on the mound.  On the base paths nobody could find Jackson (2-3) as he stole three bases.  Wes Halverson (2-2) came off the bench for injured Ryan Schenkel (1-1) smacking two hits.  Aaron Jahr (2-3) collected a two hit day, while Garrett Borgrud added a base hit.

Deerfield (11-3-1) in game two took on D1 Lakeland Minocqua (10-2).  Lakeland scored two quick runs in the first inning.  The Demons "Fast Attack" at the top of the line up started off the game right.  Mike Hommen (2-4) singled to open bottom of the first.  Cody Wyman (1-4) then singled moving Hommen to third.  Dylan Jackson (1-4) drove in Hommen as he grounded into a fielders choice.  From that point on Lakeland controlled the game.  The Demons down 7-2 put on a strong rally but fell short dropping an 8-5 decision.  Tyler Brown (1-3) and Aaron Jahr (1-3) also added hits for the Demons.
